Prof. Olusegun O. Awotoye is a resource scientist who has garnered extensive academic and professional experience in Ecosystem Resource and Environmental Management. His research focus has centred on pollution monitoring and bioremediation of contaminated soils, restoration of degraded environment and biodiversity management, He was privileged to serve as a resource scientist/consultant on Forestry and other Environmental related issues for Osun State Agricultural Development Programme (ADP). He was part of the consultant that participated in the Environmental Impact Assessment of Iwopin Paper Mill in Ogun State. He was part of the team that monitored Deforestation and Implications for Biodiversity in Nigeria using data from Nigeriasat-1 and other satellites. He was a member of the organizing Committee for an International Workshop on Geo-information System-based Forest Monitoring in Nigeria (GEOFORMIN). He also served as a member of Planning Committee on the training workshop for Capacity Building on the Use of Landsat Datasets for Sustainable Management in Africa. He served as the Technical Chairman in number of conferences and workshops. He also served as a consultant in the Production and Developmental Plan for Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex, Ile –Ife.
Prof Awotoye has been involved in scholarly publications and mentoring emerging scholars in the University. He has served as External examiner and External assessor for professorial candidates in many Universities in Nigeria. He has supervised 54 M. Sc. and 8 PhD candidates in the field of Ecosystem Resources and Environmental Management. He has authored/co-authored 56 articles in reputable journals and three chapters in Books. He was the Chief Editor of International Journal of Ecology and Environmental Studies and served as the Director of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Studies, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He has served as a member/Chairman Ad-Hoc Accreditation Panel to Nigerian Universities Committee. He is a member of many professional associations such as World Academic of Science, Environment and Technology, West African Research and Innovation Management Association (WARIMA) and Nigerian Environmental Accountant to mention a few.
